King Future Nyoni has left Zimbabwe for Sierra Leone, where he will compete against 20 other African models for the prestigious title of Mister Africa International. This marks Nyoni’s second attempt at the title, having participated in a virtual edition of the pageant last year.
This year, he campaigns under the slogan #TogetherWeCan, while the pageant is themed Strength and Pride. Representing Zimbabwe and the Southern African bloc, Nyoni, who hails from Hwange in Matabeleland North and resides in Victoria Falls, is the only in-land Southern African contestant. He will be joined by another delegate from the Comoros.
Speaking exclusively to My Africa Magazine before his departure on Wednesday, November 11, from Victoria Falls, Nyoni expressed his honor and responsibility in representing Zimbabwe and Southern Africa in one of Africa’s most prestigious male pageants.
“It’s a great opportunity tasked to me to represent my country, but I consider it an honor and blessing to be one of two African models representing both their countries and the Southern African bloc. It’s also an opportunity to showcase our culture, heritage, pride, and unity—our strength as Southern Africa and as a continent,” said Nyoni.
He thanked his sponsors, supporters, and loved ones who have stood by him throughout his journey. “A man is not an island. I appreciate those rallying behind the vision #TogetherWeCan. I’m grateful for the sponsors who support me financially, through votes, and with designs, as well as for those offering daily motivation and advice,” he said.
Nyoni aims not only to win the title but also to leverage the platform to promote a project that benefits the entire African continent. “The main goal for every delegate is to contest and win the title, walking away as King. This is my objective too, as the title comes with benefits that I believe can be distributed equally across the continent,” he explained.
Among the designers Nyoni will showcase at the pageant are YET, Tocar, Push Project, Afro Phonix, George Takora Designs, St Ignatius, Chardesignz, Hillary Haym, Nolie B, and South African designer Finch Designs.
King Future Nyoni is expected to arrive in Sierra Leone on December 13, ready to represent Zimbabwe and Southern Africa on the international stage.
