In a passionate appeal, Mayor David Coltart has urged all cricket enthusiasts in the city to attend the 5-day Test match between Zimbabwe and Ireland at Queens Sports Club, starting this Thursday.

The Mayor’s appeal, posted on his Facebook page, emphasized the importance of supporting the national team and demonstrating the city’s passion for cricket.

“I am thrilled to announce that entrance to the match is FREE, so we have no excuse not to attend.

” This is an opportunity to watch superb cricket, featuring some of the world’s top players, right here in our own backyard,” said Mayor Coltart.

The Mayor also highlighted the need to support the national team.

“Our players deserve our backing, and by attending the match, we will be showing them that we believe in them and are behind them every step of the way,”stated Mayor Coltart

Furthermore, Mayor Coltart emphasized the importance of hosting international cricket matches in Bulawayo.

“If we do not support matches of this nature, it may be used as an excuse to reduce the number of internationals played in Bulawayo.

“We must not let this happen. We must demonstrate that we are a city that is passionate about cricket and willing to support our national team.,urged”Mayor Coltart

Queens Sports Club has a rich history of hosting international cricket matches, and this test match against Ireland is a crucial one for Zimbabwe.

By attending the match, Bulawayo residents will not only be showing their support for the national team but also helping to ensure that the city remains a hub for international cricket.

Known for his love of sports, particularly cricket, Mayor Coltart has been a regular attendee at sports matches across the city, dating back to his time as Minister of Sports, Culture, and Primary Education.
