Dereck Mpofu and Mai Titi relaunched their 5-year-old track, “Ngithande”, a soulful duet, which translates to “Love Me,” a heartfelt plea for affection and attention.

Speaking on why he chose to revisit the hit classic, Derek said;

“The timelessness. I recently reposted the song on various social platforms and quite surprisingly a lot of fans clamoured for its re-release, citing have no prior knowledge of it’s existence. We listened back and realised it’s still fresh and current and the release has been met with aplomb.”

The music video, expertly shot by Naxo Films, boasts a charming old-school and vintage aesthetic. Set in a cozy shebeen, the simple yet effective concept follows a couple’s tumultuous relationship. As the man’s eyes wander, his partner’s jealousy ignites, leading to a dramatic confrontation. Despite the turmoil, the song’s message remains clear: even the most passionate disputes can’t sever the bonds of true love.

Sharing on the collaboration with Mai Titi, Derek spoke of her all rounded talents that many don’t know;

“Many people don’t realise that Mai Titi was one of the original urban grooves talents with songs such as Ruregerero. I have always been a big fan of her musical talents. She can sing, dance and perform quite well. So the idea came about from her known passion for the Ndebele language and I decided to write a completely Ndebele song for her.”
