Ward 22’s youngest councillor, Bruce Mmeli Moyo, recently shared exciting news on social media, informing residents and followers about a significant development in his political journey.

Councillor Moyo announced that he is currently in Germany, where he is representing Zimbabwe at a prestigious academy program focused on local politics and citizen participation.

“Fellow countrymen! I am proud to inform you that I have been chosen to join a prestigious academy in Germany, representing Zimbabwe, with a focus on local politics and citizen participation,” he wrote.

He further explained that the program provides an opportunity to engage with young politicians from different countries, exchanging ideas on the role of youth in politics and how residents can benefit from effective leadership.

“This platform allows me to interact with young politicians from all over the world, share experiences, and exchange best practices on empowering citizens as agents of change in politics,” said Councillor Moyo.

The councillor recently attended his first cohort in Berlin, Germany, where he gained valuable insights into grassroots politics and community engagement.

“This experience has been an eye-opener. I have witnessed firsthand how grassroots politics and community engagement play a vital role in governance. This knowledge will help me grow as a leader determined to transform Zimbabwe’s political culture,” he said.

Ekasi Magazine spoke with youth residents of Ward 22 in Nkulumane, Sekusile, who shared their views on Councillor Moyo’s international engagement, describing it as beneficial to their community.

“We look up to him as a leader, and we are eager to hear what he has learned from this experience,” said Dumiso, a youth from Ward 22.

Another resident added that the councillor’s experience in Germany would not only bring political benefits but also social insights.

“This journey will help us understand how young people in other countries navigate politics and social life. It will also expose us to different cultures and new ways of thinking,” said a Ward 22 resident.

Councillor Moyo’s participation in the program marks a significant step in his leadership journey, bringing global perspectives that could positively influence local governance in Bulawayo.
